Exploring Social Media & Internet Investigations

Prior to the internet, claim professionals relied on court records, print books, periodicals, magazines and other references to retrieve the slightest nugget of information. Today, the internet is one of the most valuable tools used in procuring information. According to PEW, 87% of the US population utilizes the internet. Additionally, Facebook boasts 1.8B users globally, with 214M residing in the United States. Claim professionals are oftentimes expected to understand searching protocols without actual guidance. For those who do not practice this skill on a daily basis, search methods can become overwhelming. In this session we attempt to make sense of one of the most confusing, time-consuming, and frustrating tools known to a claims professional.., the internet.
